Abstract: Low-cost housing has been an important housing intervention avenue to provide housing for low-income groups across the globe. The study evaluates housing policies products of low-cost housing programmes for low-income civil servants in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Objectives of the study are to identify low-cost housing programmes for low-income civil servants in Port Harcourt City; evaluate the housing policies products for provision of low-cost housing to low-income civil servants in the study area; ascertain impact of housing policies of low-cost housing programmes on low-income civil servants in the study area; and suggest appropriate and sustainable measures to improve low-cost housing for low-income civil servants in Port Harcourt City. The study employed a mixed-methods approach and sequential explanatory research design to collect and analyse data for the study. The study employed stratified, simple random and purposive sampling techniques to select 4 low-cost housing estates, 2 each from the 2 studied LGAs and in each LGA 1 federal and 1 state that provided housing estates. 80 respondents (allottees) were chosen to participate in the study, 20 each from the 4 estates. Key informants were interviewed, representing Rivers State Ministry of Housing (RSMH) and Rivers State Property Development Authority (RSPDA). The study found out that government at federal and state levels have provided some form of low-cost housing programmes for low-income civil servants as intervention in the study area. The study revealed that the type of apartments provided ranged between 1-bedroom, 2-bedrooms and 3-bedrooms at different parts of the study area but more in Port Harcourt City LGA and most of the housing units have been sold to medium and high income earners who have redeveloped the buildings to their tastes which is evidence in the low-income federal housing estates in the city. This has increase tenement rents and formation of informal settlements in waterfront areas and urban peripheries. The study recommended a review of federal and state low-cost housing programmes to ascertain the gaps and challenges affecting the implementation and actualization of low-cost housing for low-income civil servants; profiling of occupants of the units in the low-cost housing estates in the study area to evaluate objectives of the programmes; develop framework for the planning, design and implementation low-cost housing for low-income civil servants through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach; encourage the use of local building materials to develop low-cost housing programmes; and strongly institutionalise and fund government agencies through legislative processes at national, state and local levels.

Abstract: The rise of fake news and post-truth poses significant challenges to the canons of journalism, which are the guiding principles that journalists adhere to in their pursuit of truth and the dissemination of reliable information. This study explores the implications of fake news and post-truth on the canons of journalism, namely accuracy, objectivity, fairness, and public accountability. Fake news undermines the canon of accuracy by spreading false information that is often difficult to distinguish from legitimate news. Journalists must employ fact-checking tools, collaborate with experts, and transparently correct errors to ensure the accuracy of their reporting. Post-truth challenges the canon of objectivity, as it blurs the line between news and opinion. Journalists need to maintain their commitment to impartiality, providing multiple perspectives and fostering open dialogue to counter the manipulation of facts. Addressing the challenges posed by fake news and post-truth requires a collective effort involving journalists, media organizations, educators, and policymakers. Strengthening media literacy, supporting independent journalism, promoting ethical reporting practices, and holding social media platforms accountable are essential steps in preserving the integrity of journalism. By upholding the canons of accuracy, objectivity, fairness, and public accountability, journalists can navigate the complex media landscape, counter the effects of fake news and post-truth, and fulfill their vital role as purveyors of truth and guardians of democracy.

Abstract: This research assessed the influence of teaching strategies towards student’s competences in Rwandan public secondary schools. Specifically, the study has to find out preferred mathematics teaching strategies in selected Rutsiro public secondary schools, and to assess the relationship between mathematics’ teaching strategies and student’s competences in Rutsiro public secondary schools. The study intends to assist teachers to improve their teaching strategies that directly empower students’ competences. The researcher used descriptive survey design for the first and the second research question and the correlation research design was used to find the relationship between the variables, where both quantitative and qualitative approaches were used, as well as questionnaires and guided interview to collect data. The survey was involving 132 Mathematic learning students that were sampled by using simple and stratified random sampling techniques from 440 mathematic learning students aged eighteen and above. And seven mathematics’ teachers, seven Head of schools in public secondary schools that teach mathematics in A ‘level in the schools of Rutsiro district which was sampled purposefully. The results showed that students learn mathematics effectively when in group and 50% responded strongly agree, 58% responded agree, while the total of 5.2% was in disagreement side. The confirmed that learning Mathematics helps them to solve problems in daily life as it was confirmed by 35% responded strongly agree and 38.6% responded agree. The same teachers confirmed that the use of ICT in teaching mathematics motivates learners in effective learning of mathematics and this is confirmed by 42.8% that responded strongly agree, 28.6% responded agree. The relationship between teaching strategies and students’ competences in Mathematics showed that the regression a coefficient of the group learning of mathematics not statistically significant in explaining critical thinking and problem solving except the use of ICT in learning mathematics. The relationship was high and significant. Afterward, the ministry of education that should work hand in hand with different stakeholders in education so that a lot of effort be put in learning science especially mathematics, while the teacher were recommended to keep exploring the new strategies that can help learners learning mathematics effectively.

Abstract: This review purposed to consolidate the ideas of Albert Bandura on the question of moral disengagement as a premise upon inhumanities are perpetrated. These ideas are contained his article; 'Moral Disengagement in the Perpetration of Inhumanities published in 1999. The review presents key concepts that build up his argument such as moral agency and moral sanctioning.  Key questions adduced from Bandura’s work include a demonstration of how moral justification is used to perpetuate inhumane acts, an elucidation of how euphemistic labeling is used to promote of inhumane acts, an exposition of the advantageous comparison and violence, displacement and diffusion of responsibility. In order to clarify Bandura’s key questions his points of views, information sources and key inferences are also discussed in this review. It was concluded that   moral disengagement leads to perpetration of inhumanities through a supportive network of legitimate enterprises through subdivision of functions and that moral agency is dual in nature. It was further observed that rapid radical shifts in destructive behavior through moral justification are most strikingly revealed in military conduct and that people do not ordinarily engage in harmful conduct until they have justified to themselves.

Abstract: This paper explores the cultural significance of some symbols in the four renowned Dagbon palaces in Ghana, using a qualitative approach with thematic analysis. The study is grounded in symbolism theory, which posits that symbols play an important role in communicating and reinforcing cultural values, beliefs, and practices. The findings revealed that the symbols of the Dagbon palaces reflect the Dagbon people's worldview, value system, history, culture, and relationship with the natural world. The symbols are used to communicate and reinforce cultural values and beliefs, such as strength, power, fertility, wisdom, and knowledge. They are also used to document and preserve the Dagbon people's history and heritage. The study concludes that the symbols of the Dagbon palaces play an important role in Dagbon culture. They are a vital part of the people's identity and heritage, and they play a significant role in communicating and reinforcing cultural values, beliefs, and practices.

Abstract: The primary emphasis of this research is on demonstrating why it is essential for accounting education to combine academic study with hands-on experience. Students in accounting programs seldom have the opportunity to apply what they have learned to exercise, which is one of the problems with the present status of accounting education. This study investigates the feasibility of incorporating different experiential learning strategies into accounting educational programs. The methodology uses a broad variety of approaches to collecting data, including surveys, in-depth interviews, and informal classroom observations, amongst others. The findings of the study point to the conclusion that accounting students get a significant advantage when experiential learning is included in their academic program. Decisions On the basis of the findings, it has been proposed that simulations, internships, and case studies should all be included in accounting degree curricula. If we want our graduates to be successful in the profession of accounting, the accounting curriculum must include both theoretical and practical education. Real-world learning is fundamental.

Abstract: In this article, we investigate how the presence of students of different genders in the classroom influences the learning of students and their future careers in accounting. Problem Statement There are still disparities between the sexes in the profession of accounting, and this has caused some people to question how important it is to foster an environment in the classroom that is gender equitable. This study's objective is to investigate how the gender ratio in accounting influences accounting students' academic and professional performance. Quantitative analysis is employed in this study to investigate whether or not male and female accounting majors achieve similar educational and career success levels. In addition, the viewpoints and experiences of students are obtained via the use of questionnaires and interviews.

According to the study's findings, gender diversity in accounting education is good since it promotes the development of a broad variety of perspectives, collaborative problem-solving, and innovative thinking. According to the findings, groups that include members from a diverse spectrum of genders tend to do better overall. Innovating and finding solutions to problems are more likely to come from diverse communities. Conclusions In light of the findings, it has been proposed that diversity and inclusion policies be implemented in accounting training courses to increase the involvement of women and other underrepresented groups. In conclusion, increasing the percentage of women taught in accounting courses offers several benefits, not just for the students but also for the sector as a whole. These benefits include increased rates of learning and innovation.

Abstract: This study intends to draw attention to the relevance of environmental and social responsibility in the accounting field by including sustainable development education. The Problem, Stated in Its Terms, given the growing worldwide awareness of climate change and other societal concerns, is an increasing need to teach accountants capable of contributing to sustainable development through ethical financial practices. This demand is growing at an alarming rate. This study investigates how environmental and social responsibility education might be integrated into the accounting curricula. Educators and professionals in the accounting field are interviewed as part of a qualitative research approach to understand better the current practices and challenges associated with incorporating sustainable development teaching. The research outcomes highlight the need for accounting courses, including instruction on sustainable development, so that students are better equipped to make moral decisions about their financial decisions. Conclusions In light of the study's findings, it has been proposed that degree programs in accounting include courses on sustainable accounting, ethical investing, and corporate social responsibility in their curricula. Education on sustainable development may be more effectively delivered with industrial partnerships and collaborations with sustainability experts. To summarise, future accountants who get knowledge about sustainable development as part of their education may be better equipped to advocate for ethical financial practices, find solutions to environmental problems, and make positive contributions to the well-being of society.

Abstract: In this piece, we will investigate the impact that professional certification has on accounting degree courses, as well as the implications that this has for the future career opportunities that graduates may have. According to what is indicated in the description of the issue, no research has been conducted on how professional certification influences the instruction of accounting. This study aims to investigate the connection between accounting degrees and professional certifications so that conclusions can be drawn on the most effective means by which one may further their career in this industry. A mixed-methods approach has been used as the research strategy of choice to research the influence of professional certification on the academic and professional outcomes of qualified and uncertified accountants as well as account students. The research results indicate that accounting certification enhances the educational achievements of students by providing them with access to better professional possibilities and teaching them specialised skills in their field. It has been shown that Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) make more money and rise more swiftly in their professions than their non-certified peers do. In light of the findings, it has been proposed that accounting degree programs should include courses that prepare students to take certification exams and educate them on the significance of obtaining professional certification.

It is impossible to exaggerate the significance of professional certification in accounting education because it equips students with specialised skills and increases their marketability to prospective employers. In accounting degree courses, more emphasis should be placed on the necessity of certification so that students are more prepared for the issues they will face in the accounting sector.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact that the broad use of technological learning aids in accounting classes has had. Given the quick pace at which new technologies are being developed, we must investigate how accounting courses may benefit from using these technologies. This study's objective is to determine whether or not conventional methods of accounting education are superior to online learning settings and make their findings public. The outcomes of the student's learning, engagement levels, and happiness are compared between conventional classroom settings and those that include technology. According to the findings, incorporating technology into accounting lessons leads to increases in students' levels of engagement and retention, as well as their capacity for critical thought. Based on the findings, it seems that providing students with access to online learning platforms, interactive multimedia, and virtual simulations in accounting classes would improve their overall educational experience. The use of technology in the instructional setting can raise the standard of students' accounting education by making the subject more engaging and easily accessible to them.

Abstract: Within this essay, we will investigate how assisting students in developing their emotional intelligence might help them achieve success in their chosen jobs as accountants. Even though emotional intelligence plays a significant role in developing positive relationships and making sensible decisions, the vast majority of accounting courses tend to place too little emphasis on the subject. This study investigates the relevance of cultivating one's emotional intelligence within accounting education and reports its findings. A longitudinal survey is used to assess accounting students' ability in terms of both their previous knowledge and emotional intelligence. Collaboration, the maintenance of client relationships, and the efficiency of leadership are just a few examples of professional accomplishments that have been shown to have a direct and positive correlation with high levels of emotional intelligence. Conclusions In light of the results, institutions of higher learning need to make it possible for accounting students to gain knowledge about and practice developing their emotional intelligence. Students need to work on developing their emotional intelligence as part of their academic curriculum to provide them with the necessary interpersonal skills for achieving success in accounting.

Abstract: The objective of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of different types of online learning environments to impart accounting knowledge. Given the expanding popularity of distance education, it is essential to analyse the efficacy of online learning platforms on the academic advancement of accounting students. This study's objective is to assess whether or not using an online learning platform may assist students in gaining more knowledge and being more involved in the accounting coursework they are required to complete. We use a quantitative approach to make a comparison between the results for students who get their education in traditional classroom settings and those for students who make use of online learning platforms. Data is gathered via the use of questionnaires and tests. According to the research findings, online learning platforms can be valuable tools in accounting education since they make autonomous study, flexibility, and contact between students and teachers more feasible. In light of the findings, it has been proposed that online learning platforms be integrated into accounting classes so that students can access customised training and instant feedback on their performance. Using online learning platforms can enhance accounting education by rendering classes more accessible to students and increasing their level of interest in the material.

Abstract: This study's objective was to investigate how the level of enjoyment that students got from their accounting lessons was impacted by the various teaching strategies used. The difficulty is that the level of enthusiasm and participation in class that students have may vary greatly depending on the kind of instruction that is being employed. This study investigates how various approaches to education influence students' interest levels in accounting classes. Surveys and observations of accounting courses in action are used to compile information on instructional tactics and levels of student engagement in the subject. According to the study's findings, students showed greater interest in their accounting education when their instructors used an interactive, student-centred instructional strategy in the classroom.

Conclusions Active learning methods, such as case-based education, group discussions, and hands-on activities, are some of the suggestions that have been made on how education might be improved. In the long run, the deployment of pedagogical practices that encourage student engagement may significantly improve the overall quality of accounting education and the outcomes for its students.

Abstract: This study aims to demonstrate that providing students with an accounting education that strongly emphasises moral principles may assist students in developing competent moral judgments. Because the field of accounting is fraught with a myriad of moral dilemmas, there is an immediate and pressing need to educate students on how to arrive at conclusions consistent with ethical standards. This study seeks to answer the question, "To what extent might instructing accounting students in a fundamental set of values help them make ethical decisions on the job?" A substantial number of in-depth interviews and surveys are conducted with accounting students and professionals to get a deeper understanding of the outcomes of values-based education. According to the findings of this research, accountants who have received an education that strongly emphasises moral principles are more likely to behave in a professional and ethical way. Students should be required to attend accounting classes emphasising ethical themes such as ethical challenges, ethical dilemma case studies, and ethical subjects in general. This would better prepare them for the significance of moral reasoning in the corporate world. More time should be devoted in accounting classes to discussing ethical dilemmas and decision-making to assist students in developing the sort of moral judgment that customers and employers appreciate.

Abstract: This project aims to improve accounting education by incorporating and encouraging critical thinking skills and best practices. Accountants must have excellent thinking abilities to examine complex financial data and correctly draw correct conclusions. This research aims to find and evaluate practical methods for teaching critical thinking in the accounting field that can be included in the existing curriculum. We analysed the literature on the topic and looked at case examples of practical educational efforts to figure out how to get students thinking critically about accounting. The findings suggest that problem-based learning, case analysis, and collaborative learning might help students improve their critical thinking skills in the context of their accounting classes. To support their students in acquiring essential thinking skills, accounting instructors should use active learning strategies, open debate, and examples from real-world scenarios. In conclusion, if accounting professors use efficient methods and best practices to improve their students' capacity for critical thinking, such students may be better prepared to deal with the challenges they will face upon entering the field. Taking this action is crucial for becoming ready.

Abstract: Job involvement has emerged as an important outcome variable for many organizations and has drawn the attention of management scholars and organisational practitioners globally. In this study, the researcher examined personality traits as predictors of job involvement among secondary school teachers in Benue State, Nigeria. In a cross-sectional survey design, 354 teachers comprising of 195(55.1%) males and 159(44.9%) females within the age range of 22–62 years. Data were collected using the Teachers’ Job Involvement Scale (TJIS) and the Big Five Inventory (BFI-44). Results from multiple linear regression analysis showed that personality traits jointly predicted overall job involvement with extraversion making the highest positive contribution followed by conscientiousness while neuroticism significantly contributed negatively to job involvement. Openness to experience and agreeableness however did not make any significant contribution. It was therefore, concluded that extraversion and conscientiousness are important traits required of a teacher to exhibit job involvement. Based on the findings, the study recommended that employers of teachers both in the private and public sectors should always apply personality screening test through trained occupational psychologists for the purpose of selection, placement and training.

models, real estate development sector in Turkey, process improvement and process management concepts and real estate development applied in Turkey it covers the improvement of processes. In the study, on a company basis can be taken to solve the problems experienced in real estate development processes.

Actions were tried to be determined. The actions taken are an indication for the application company. It was carried out as a process improvement activity and the root causes of the problem were revealed. These reasons were tried to be eliminated.

Abstract: Sudan is challenged with the weakness of the concept of citizenship, ethnicity, tribalism, and secessionist tendencies threaten its survival as a cohesive state. This research aims to employ the common ethnic origins of the Sudanese population to build a framework for citizenship education to suppress these challenges. The research applied the inductive-analytical approach based on relevant published scientific research. It has been shown that Sudan ranks thirty-fifth in the World population, third in the Arab world, and ninth in the African continent. Sudan’s population is predominantly young, with annual growth rates of 2.7% and a low general density of 24.7 individuals/km2. It has a mixture of approximately 570 tribes, divided into 57 ethnic categories living in different geographical regions. This ethnic and tribal composition resulted from the mixing of Hamites, Semites, Nilotic, Bantu, and Arab tribes alongside Nubians of ancient Cushitic or Pharaonic origins. They speak more than 400 languages and dialects since Sudan took the form of a unified state during the British colonial period. Modern scientific research confirms the existence of genetic mixtures among the Sudanese tribes. This appears in the genetic map of the Sudanese, which is characterized by antiquity and connectivity. It has been proven that 90% of Sudanese women carry genes that have been connected without interruption for the past hundred thousand years. There is also genetic variation as a result of recent migrations and demographic events that occurred mainly in Asia and Europe. The Y chromosome was found in 15 groups of Sudanese males who represent groups that are not related to each other and represent the three linguistic families in Sudan. The value of the combined power of exclusion is equal to 0.9999981, and the value of the combined match of probability is equal to 7.4 x 1017 among a group of Sudanese representing various ethnic and linguistic groups. Also, haplogroups A, B, and E are found primarily in groups that speak the Nilo-Saharan language, while haplogroups F, I, J, K, and R are found among groups that speak African-Asian languages. Based on these scientific data, an educational framework for citizenship was built to be applied across formal and non-formal education in Sudan.

Abstract: In the face of the ongoing global pandemic, it is imperative for Africa to consider alternative approaches for combatting such crises. This paper delves into the rich history of Africa's traditional methods for addressing pandemics, which predate modern medicine. Traditional African medicine comprises divination, spiritualism, and herbalism, offering holistic healthcare services rooted in culture, religion, and community beliefs. It recognizes illness as having both natural and supernatural causes, necessitating physical and spiritual treatments such as divination, incantations, animal sacrifice, exorcism, and herbal remedies, often incorporating minerals and animal parts.

Although once labeled primitive, scientific investigations have revealed the therapeutic potential of African herbal medicine, with some pharmaceuticals based on phytochemicals derived from it. Nonetheless, challenges include poor quality control and limited safety data. Traditional medical practices remain shrouded in secrecy, resulting in few documented adverse reactions. However, embracing and integrating traditional medicine into conventional healthcare systems can unlock its potential, benefiting healthcare provision, expanding coverage, fostering economic growth, and alleviating poverty.

This paper offers a historical perspective on pandemics and proposes an eclectic approach, advocating for the exploration of alternative and herbal medicine as a solution for future pandemics. By examining the information gathered through this research, we highlight the promising prospects of African traditional medicine, paving the way for its formal recognition and integration into modern healthcare systems. In conclusion, embracing Africa's traditional healing practices could prove instrumental in enhancing pandemic preparedness and response, ultimately benefitting the continent and the world at large.

Abstract: Promotion plays a key role in employee satisfaction. It involves pay increase, change in responsibilities and job titles. The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is at the forefront of scientific research and technological innovation in Ghana. It has thirteen (13) institutes with different research mandates across the Ghana. The study determines the promotional trends among senior members in the CSIR over a five-year period. Results show a decreasing trend in the number of applications received for processing. Most applications received were of the senior research scientist grade. Though greater numbers apply to the senior research scientist grade only a few of the applicants apply to the chief research scientist grade. There were more male applications than female applications. Regulations were found to be a major influence of the promotion process in the CSIR.

Abstract: English is a language of communication in most countries in the world and learning it, just like any other language, requires the four skills of language acquisition, which is, listening, speaking, reading and writing and the most challenging is the writing skill. Despite the challenge, communicating in writing is important because it is one of the greatest achievements among learners in all levels of education and therefore, because of the importance pegged on it, competence in writing is necessary. In Kenyan secondary schools, especially in rural areas, mastering writing skills is a challenge and it is evident in the continuous dismal performance in English subject in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results which are continuously below average. The challenge of poor performance in English subject lead the researcher to analyze whether extensive reading can affect writing positively in secondary schools of Kuresoi Sub-County, Nakuru County, Kenya. The study relied on linguist Stephen Krashen Comprehensive (input) hypothesis also known as the monitor model. A cross-sectional study research design was adopted. The target population was teachers of English and students in Kuresoi North Sub-County because English is a compulsory subject in secondary schools. Simple random sampling technique was used to recruit teachers of English and learners. Thus, a sample of 190 learners and 8 teachers were used as the respondents of the study. Qualitative and quantitative data was collected by use of questionnaires for students and interview schedules for teachers. Pre-testing was conducted to determine the validity and reliability of the instruments. Ethical considerations were put in place by collecting permit and ensuring that the participants’ were not identified by name. Analysis of qualitative data was done thematically in line with the objectives and descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution and percentages were employed in analysis of quantitative data. Tables and figures were used to present responses for each item used. The research findings indicated that reading and writing are connected to each other and those who practice wide reading perform better in writing, however, in the list of the several teaching methods in writing classrooms, extensive reading was rarely used and majority of the learners hardly engaged in extensive reading for lack of reading material and the desire to read. Recommendations were made to enable curriculum developers, school administrators, teachers and students gain insights into extensive reading and its effectiveness in writing and seek to improve it over time.

Abstract: The Human Resource Information System is a technological concept which utilizes the information technology for effective performance of the human resources, its functions and applications in an organization. The study focused on human resource information systems and employee performance in National Polytechnics in Kenya. The study was necessitated by the fact that despite the TVET institutions having the HRIS modules, there has not been a study to show on how these modules enhance employee performance. The study therefore aimed to explore the effect of e-recruitment systems on employee performance in National Polytechnics in Kenya. The theories and models underpinning the study included technology acceptance model the systems theory and human resource information system model. The study employed a cross sectional survey design which was census technique targeting 61 respondents and purposive sampling was used to select the 61 respondents who are mainly in Human resource managers and the employees in the human resource department. Semi structured questionnaires were be used as a data collection tool to gather both qualitative and quantitative data. The validity and reliability of the instrument was determined by use of Cronbach alpha. According to the results, e-recruitment as a variable had a significant effect on employee performance in National polytechnics in Rift Valley region, Kenya. The study recommends that the national polytechnics should embrace E-recruitment to enable them forecasting organizational staffing needs in collecting and processing data about applicants and in development of interview schedules and relevant interview tasks for new employees as well as deciding when to hire.
