Abstract: Thirteen gradients were predicted with microscopic differences in green and violet woodhoopoe iridosome diameters of mantle feathers. Outer iridophore diameters from Green Woodhoopoe P. p. purpureus barbules (0.22±0.03µm, n=244) recorded at Morgan Bay were smaller than those from violet barbules (0.28±0.04µm, n=248) recorded in Namibia (Hobatere and Omaruru). Precipitation (r=-0.99, Z score=-4.48, n=6, p<0.01), month with the highest relative humidity (r=-0.99, Z score=-4.28, n=6, p<0.01), month with the lowest relative humidity (r=-0.998, Z score=-6.03, n=6, p=0), month with the lowest number of rainy days (r=1, Z score=-31.82, n=6, p=0), driest month (r=-1, Z score=inf, n=6, p=0), warmest month (r=0.99, Z score=4.87, n=6, p<0.01), lowest average temperate (r=0.98, Z score=3.96, n=6, p<0.01), month with the most daily hours of sunshine (average) (r=0.996, Z score=5.39, n=6, p<0.01) (total) (r=0.996, Z score=5.43, n=6, p<0.01), month with the fewest daily hours of sunshine (average) (r=0.998, Z score=6.00, n=6, p=0) (r=0.998, Z score=6.03, n=6, p=0) (total), hours of sunshine throughout the year (r=0.999, Z score=6.53, n=6, p=0), and hours of sunshine per month (average) (r=0.998, Z score=6.15, n=6, p=0) were correlated with outer iridosome diameters. This study examined how woodhoopoes mantles may have consequences for energy expenditures.

Abstract: This paper is part of the construction with respect for the environment through particular projects of the green city Mohammed VI in Morocco; this document is a study of two practical cases of construction techniques with respect for the environment, a green city project and the first SOLAR DECATHLON AFRICA prize, in order to bring out each peculiarity these peculiarities which aims to respect the environment in terms of water consumption and energy efficiency. This paper began with a presentation by the (SADV) as responsible for everything that is construction, in particular through the projects of the green city, then a presentation of the competition and the SDA first prize.

In order to continue with SADV's vision, the study phase included the particularity of three practical cases with regard to sustainable construction and respect for the environment by studying the Case of Villas for researchers with these particularities. Thermal insulation and its natural air conditioning system, and the case of the first SDA. Prize with its peculiarity of these building materials, water management and energy saving.         

The Project was ended with a discussion about healthy construction, which consists of building in a way that respects our environment and that of future generations while offering maximum comfort to the occupants.

Abstract: Maize (Zea mays L.) is a multipurpose crop useful in human diet and animal feed. Maize yield improvement has continued to receive a lot of research attention, but less so for plant morphological characteristics especially considering the ongoing climate change impacts that have affected the response of many crops to the environment. The information that can be received from research on morphological traits could be critical, as it could enhance the efforts at ensuring proper crop adaptation to climate change, in addition to the direct or indirect contribution to grain yield. Five maize varieties were planted in randomized complete block design experiments and monitored in 8 environments at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching and Research Farm to examine the response of maize morphology to environments, seasons and weather factors. Result showed highly significant effect of environment on most measured traits (P ≤ 0.01) with significantly higher means in the early season. Beyond the seedling stage, morphological traits responded positively to soil moisture, relative humidity, and solar radiation, On the contrary, soil heat flux, temperature, and heat unit negatively affected maize seedling growth.

Abstract: Gilberts Syndrome is a mild a condition where the liver is unable to produce the enzyme bilirubin in the blood. The reason for instability might be stress, dehydration, fasting etc. It is caused due to mutation in the UGT1A1 gene, basically the insertion of another TATAA box which results in the formation of TA₇ gene in the sequence. In the present study we aim to focus on the allelic mutations in the UGT1A1 sequence that cause gilbert’s syndrome. We have used capillary electrophoresis technology to obtain DNA sequences of the samples under study and compare it with UGTA1 sequence for detecting mutation in the UTGA1 gene. DNA was extracted and PCR amplified products of 363bp were provided to carry out the study. The PCR products were purified using magnetic beads. These purified products were used for setting up cycle sequencing reaction. Next, the extension products generated were purified with BDX Terminator kit. Purified extension products were subjected to CE on genetic analyzer 3500 xL. Data files generated were analyzed with Sequencing Analysis Software to view the electropherogram and generate FASTA files. The sequences obtained were blasted in the NCBI database.

Abstracts: Root‐knot nematodes (RKN), (Meloidogyne spp.) are obligate endoparasites of more than 3000 species of plants, which results in $70 billion worth of economic loss every year, worldwide. Controlling of obligated plant parasitic rootknot-nematode is generally difficult and also with the banning of many nematicides chemicals that control nematode, because of adverse environmental impacts, it is recommended to develop host resistance genes. Although, many R-gene confer resistance to RKN have been identified, the majority of these gene lose durability of resistance and affected by high temperature. As the results knowledge of molecular and cellular mechanism underlying host resistance condition is essential to develop durable resistance gene that provide stable resistance under different condition as well as provide resistance to many RKN species. Considering that, we have conducted extensive literature reviews on recently discovered diverse RKN resistance genes (structural and functional characterized) with their underlying mechanism of the resistance responses induced by different types of nematode resistance genes. In this review, several independent single dominant R genes confer resistance to RKN have been reported. These Resistance genes include: Mi-gene, Ma-gene, PsoRPM2-gene, SacMi-gene and RMja genes confer resistance to RKN in Tomato (L. peruvianum), Prunus species (Myrobalan plum = Prunus cerasifera), woody fruit tree (Prunus sogdiana and transgenic tobaccos) and Eggplants (S. aculeatissimum) respectively. The structure, functions and mechanism of resistance mediated by these genes were summarized in this review.

Abstracts: Root‐knot nematodes (RKN), (Meloidogyne spp.) are obligate endoparasites of more than 3000 species of plants, which results in $80 billion worth of economic loss every year, worldwide. Considerable variation in ability to break crop resistance and to reproduce on different crop species is observed both between and within Meloidogyne. The main feature of plant-parasitic root-knot nematode is its potential host range encompassing more than 3,000 plant species. The adaptation of root-knot nematodes to its various environments of plant hosts raises questions about genome plasticity leading to genetic variation and adaptive evolution. It has been proposed that epigenetic as well as cytogenetic variation mechanisms might in part be responsible for the generation of phenotypic variants that provide material for rapid adaptation of more than 3000 plant host environments. As the results, Meloidogyne species constitutes a unique model system to study the links between variation in genome structure, mode of reproduction, and adaptation to environment and hosts, in relation with parasitic success. Controlling of obligate plant parasitic-root-knot nematode is generally difficult and also with the banning of nematicides chemicals that control nematode, because of adverse environmental impacts, it is imperative that new safe disease control strategies for nematode management should be developed and implemented. In order to develop new and environmentally safe disease control strategies, it is essential to understand the molecular, cellular and genetics basis of how RKN interact, evolve and adapt various host plants. Thus, in this review paper, therefore, we have conducted extensive literature reviews to identify the cytogenetic status (classical cytogenetics-molecular cytogenetics) of root‐knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.). Specifically, the status of the studied areas of cytogenetic in RKN as well as the pattern of cytogenetic variation and evolution were summarized.

Abstract: Present study aimed to find out the IV^th class students’ learning experience and achievement levels after they visited a Zoology museum. The students were guided to observe museum exhibits with explanation. Every student submitted a museum visit report and attended a posttest after a week time. Their reports and posttest marks were analyzed and results were discussed. It is observed that the children were much enthusiastic on seeing varieties of animals in one place, posed many questions and actively involved in touching and holding the specimens (birds, starfish, etc.). Further, achievement test score of girls ranged from 3 to 9 with the average value of 6.73 and that of boys from 6 to 10 with average of 8.25, but their averages were not significantly different (t = 0.047).The kinesthetic learning experiences were found associated with developing many skills and motivating them to participate actively in various learning processes and accomplish better learning outcomes. They understood the concepts of adaptation, structure and function relation. Though they expressed concern and kindness towards animals, they could not comprehend ‘biodiversity’. In addition, museum visit can help in popularizing science and bridging the school and community. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that museum visit may be considered as an essential part of beyond school activity for hands-on and minds-on learning.

Abstract: Investigations of fungi associated with tomato spoilage were carried out on tomato collected from an experimental farm beside Meteorological station Oba kekere Federal University of Technology Akure. The studies were conducted on spoiled tomato samples which have been bruised. The most predominant pathogen associated with tomato rots was identified as Colletotrichum coccoides. Antifungal studies were carried out on tomato using some botanicals such as M.myristica, H suaveojeus, A. congensis, T.Tetrpleura and Xylopiaacthiopica and prepared in concentrations 25, 50, 75 arid 100% in vitro screening of the botanicals, were carried out in a completely randomized design in there replicates. It was observed that the four different concentrations of A. congensis completely inhibited radial growth of C. coccoides, while 75 and 100% of M myristicahad a similar effect, while only 100% of T. tetrapienra completely prevented the fungal growth. Generally, .Xylopiasuaveogeus H.showed antifungal properties but they could not completely inhibit mycelia growth of the fungal pathogen at any of the concentrations.

Abstract: The implementation of Environmental education, law and policies were swift response to environmental issues. Thus, necessitated the study. Descriptive survey research design was used. The study population comprised, personnel of Department of Petroleum Resources at Multinational Oil Companies in Niger-Delta, Nigeria. The sample size of the study was one hundred and eighty respondents. Ten respondents were selected from five multinational oil companies from the Nine (9) states that made up Niger-Delta in Nigeria (Ondo, Edo, Delta, Balyesa, Rivers, Cross-River, Akwa-Ibom, Imo and Abia). The research instrument that was used to gather data was self-developed by the researchers, titled “Ranking scale on influence of environmental education, law and policies on gas flaring control in Niger-Delta, Nigeria”. The research instrument was validated by two expert Test and Measurement, which its reliability was determined through test-retest method, 0.66 coefficient reliability was obtained. Data generated on research hypotheses was analysed using inferential statistics (Pearson Ranking Correlation Coefficient). Based on the findings of the study, conclusions were made that Environmental education, law and policies could create awareness on risks associated with gas flaring. Also, that gas combusting could be reduce and so on. Based on the conclusion, recommendations were made that government should out up measure to ensure compliance with measures (Environmental education, law and policies to control gas flaring, human and nonhuman actions which are very hazardous and threats to the environment.

Title: INFLUENCE OF ENVIRONMENT EDUCATION, LAW AND POLICIES ON GAS FLARING CONTROL IN MULTINATIONAL OIL COMPANIES IN NIGER-DELTA, NIGERIA

Abstract: This proposal was initiated to assess the response of different potato varieties (Dagim, Belete, Gudene, Jalene, Zengena, and Ater Ababa) to phosphorus application and nutrient use efficiency under screen house with plastic pots. There were seven phosphorous levels per variety including the control. The experiment was conducted in completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications with a total of 42 treatments. The result showed that most parameters studied significantly changed with varieties and P-rates. Belete variety and 2 g phosphorous pot^- showed the highest values in soil available phosphorous (52.6 mg/kg and 49.53 mg/kg, respectively,) and Belete variety and 3.9 g phosphorous pot¹showed highest values in plants phosphorous (3.48 mg/g and 3.98 mg/g, respectively). The highest phosphorous uptake (14.81 mg/plant) was recorded in Belete variety. The highest phosphorous uptake efficiency (92.35 and 78.67 kg/kg) and phosphorous use efficiency (33.63 and 37.58 mg/g) were recorded in Dagim and Ater Ababa varieties, respectively. Though the lowest marketable tuber yield was recorded in the Ater Ababa variety followed by Dagim variety, they had the highest PUE and PAE. Evaluation of the existing varieties of potato for their phosphorous use and uptake efficiency could also potentially increase the future potato yield without excess P application.

Abstract:  The generation of waste is inevitable and the collection, processing, transporting, and disposal of wastes and the process of waste management are important for public health and safety and the aesthetics of the environment. However, waste management in Enugu metropolis has become rapidly disturbing and retrogressive as residents often dump refuse indiscriminately, thereby exposing others to dangerous health hazards due to the menace resulting from poor management of wastes. This study was conducted using area sampling and random sampling method for the proposed study area Enugu North Local Government Area. Structured questionnaires and interviews were issued to respondents and the data used was obtained from both primary and secondary sources. From a population of 244,852 people, a sample size of 204 was obtained using the Yaro Yamina, formulae and simple percentage evaluations. 80.3% of the respondents expressed utter dissatisfaction with the waste management authority, 74.0% believes more work needs to be done by the government to effectively achieve waste control, 79.9% still expressed their concern over open garbage dump sites in the metropolis while 21.6% admits they dispose refuse into floods when it rains. All 100% believes strongly that poor waste management poses harmful effects to the health of the residents with 100% expressing concern over malaria cases, 57.8% to cholera/dysentery, 45.1% concurred to onchocerciacis, 45.5% agreed to respiratory disorders while 52.9% believes that skin infections could also be suffered as a result of poor waste management.
