Abstract: Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an airborne infectious disease caused by organisms of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex.  Infection with M. tuberculosis can evolve from containment in the host, in which the bacteria are isolated within granulomas (latent TB infection), to a contagious state, in which the patient will show symptoms that can include cough, fever, night sweats and weight loss. Only active pulmonary TB is contagious. In many low-income and middle-income countries, TB continues to be a major cause of morbidity and mortality.

Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive hospital based study was carried out from June 2017 to october 2018. The sample size was total coverage of all  patient attending tuberculosis management unit during the study period Study inclusion all patient age (18years-over fifteen) years and exclusion children (0-17).

The data collected using formula is a questionnaire but I’m going to take the all sample. The data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)version17.

Results: The results indicated the 67.5% know that cover mouth and nose when coughing is method of prevention as well as 68%cover mouth when coughing about treatment 97% take drug at the time early morning, but (26%) attend the clinic eighth visit in all duration this visit important to follow patient but did not attend the clinic due to lack of money

Conclusion: The study concluded that The design of health educational program to increase patients' general awareness about the disease is crucial to the control of the infection. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

Abstract: Liver cancer is a significant public health concern globally, with particularly high rates observed in Africa. This Commentary highlights the challenges and Possibilities associated with liver cancer in African countries. Despite advancements in medical technology and healthcare services in other regions, Africa continues to bear a disproportionate burden of liver cancer cases. Contributing factors include high rates of viral hepatitis infections, particularly hepatitis B and C, as well as environmental factors such as aflatoxin exposure. Limited access to healthcare services, including screening and treatment options, further exacerbates the problem. This Commentary underscores the urgent need for comprehensive prevention, early detection, and treatment strategies tailored to the African context to mitigate the impact of liver cancer in the region. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of international collaboration, capacity building, and resource allocation to address this pressing public health issue in Africa.

Abstract: This article deeply discusses the management and update strategy of university laboratory equipment, and puts forward a series of effective improvement measures in view of the existing problems in the current equipment management. This paper first analyzes the current situation of equipment management, reveals the lack of equipment purchase planning, improper use and maintenance, and then emphasizes the importance of updating strategy. On this basis, a detailed equipment update plan was developed, including needs assessment, goal setting, fund raising, training and technical support of the updated equipment, etc., to ensure the orderly progress of the update work. At the same time, the key strategies such as the whole life cycle management, rational allocation and layout are put forward to improve the efficiency of equipment use and prolong the service life. Finally, the article looks forward to the future development trend of equipment management, such as intelligence, information and environmental protection. The research results of this paper not only provide valuable reference for the management of laboratory equipment in universities, but also contribute to the optimization and development of laboratory equipment, which is of great significance for improving the level of teaching and scientific research.

Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is systemic inflammatory disease that can affect multiple joints of the body. The risk factors for rheumatoid arthritis include: family history (genetics), gender, age, environment and smoking. RA affects women more than men and people believe that it's sickness of elderly. The study was carried out on sixty (60) female patients of above child-bearing age and ethical approval was obtained from the Ethical Committee of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. 4ml of blood samples were drawn from the antecubital fossa of the women with 5ml syringe and needle at 8am to 11am daily and the samples were taken to the laboratory for analysis. The kit used for the serological analysis contains both the positive and negative control. The result obtained was compared with positive and negative control. The result showed three positive for Rheumatoid Factor during the qualitative analysis and the remaining fifty- seven results tested negative. All positive result from the qualitative analysis tested positive when the test control was carried out, likewise the negative results which were all negative for the test control. The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in female patients of child bearing age for this study was calculated to be 5% which was 4% higher than the world prevalence estimated to be 1%. This study is relevant to ascertain the occurrence of rheumatoid arthritis in female patients above child-bearing age. This would serve as a useful tool of reference in other rheumatoid arthritis prevalence studies. This may be directed towards a better understanding of the flare of the disease amongst these sets of people and also serve a purpose in the development of a more effective preventive and curative therapy.

Abstract: There are usually challenges that come with aging which is why attention should be paid to the elderly. Unfortunately, there seems not to be institutionalized support systems for the elderly in many climes especially in developing countries. This research therefore investigated the degree of agony faced by the elderly in Bayelsa State using Yenagoa metropolis as a case study. The study adopted a descriptive survey method with primary data collection instruments which were tested and retested and validated with Cronbach’s reliability test that showed an outcome of 82.8%. The study comprised a 355 sample size determined by using Cochran’s Formula. Out of the 355 respondents, the researchers were able to retrieve answered questionnaires from 342. Simple percentage method of data analysis was employed with the aid of SPSS version 23. Findings from the study revealed that, on physical agony 47.1% had walking impairment due to osteoarthritis, 10.8% had visual impairment, 6.1% had hearing impairment, 15.2% had diabetes, while 20.8% had BP. On cognitive agony, 32.7% had dementia –short term memory loss. On emotional agony, 32.1% had emotional agony - depression, while on financial agony, 52.3% were considered poor. It is thus inferred that the elderly are going through pains in various degrees. The study recommends social life support programmes for elderly inclusive of affordable healthcare facilities for them by the government.

Abstract: Community participation is key to the success of primary health care service. The objective of this paper was therefore to assess the level of community participation in primary health care service delivery in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Demographics such as age, educational status, religious affiliation, parity, gender and socio-economic status were used as determinants of level of participation. A descriptive study approach was employed. The study population was 5,196,716 with a purposive sample size of 1,600 respondents. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 23 was applied in data analysis with Chi-square as the test statistic.  95% confidence interval level was set with a statistical significance of p<0.05. The result revealed that age, educational status and gender were significantly related to the level of community participation in primary health care service delivery in Bayelsa State (p < 0.05). On the other hand, religious affiliation, parity and socio-economic status were not significantly related (p > 0.05). It is recommended that the Bayelsa State Ministry of Health and indeed, the government upscale enlightenment on the importance of community participation in primary health care in the State.
